The motto for the city of Saratoga Springs is “Health, History, Horses”.
For 27 years, coaches Art and Linda Kranick have created their own history of developing young athletes into nationally acclaimed individuals and team members.
Retired from their positions as science teachers at Saratoga, the couple’s enthusiasm for coaching has not waned. They have been recognized as New York state cross country coaches of the year as well as national coaches of the year in cross country, winter track and spring track. Linda Kranick was named head coach of the USA World Cross Country Team which she declined to focus on her own team. In 2007, Art and Linda were named honorary referees of the prestigious Penn Relays, an event dating back to 1895.
Their coaching resume is impressive and continues to flourish.
The duo’s philosophy is simple: “Coaching is teaching. Trips are educational.”
Many trips are combined with a visit to a college campus or something educational with a little fun mixed in.
Their philosophy has proved successful as they proudly list the places their athletes have gone to further their education.
Marc Bloom, editor of The Harrier magazine and creator of the Nike/Footlocker Super 25 National Rankings said it best:
"There's just so much more to them than just the times and the championship titles. They are tremendous students, tremendously unselfish to their teammates, and the epitome of the excellence that can be achieved when youth works together
It is with great pride that FC4, Inc. contributes to sustaining this tradition.
