SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (June 10, 2019) — Registration for the Firecracker4, a fun, competitive four-mile road race through Saratoga Springs that celebrates and honors America’s history, is currently open.

The first 3,500 registrants to sign up at firecracker4.com will receive a commemorative men’s and women’s cut tech shirt and swag bag. Other perks include chip timing with live results, text/email alerts, finisher certificates, $5,000 in cash prizes, 186 award categories and prizes, a large vendor village located at the start/finish area, and 20 bands along the course to keep runners moving!

“Our event continues to grow because it not only offers runners a friendly course, but also a fun morning the whole family can enjoy before heading off to other activities or participating in the city’s July 4th celebrations,” said Race Director Patrick Lynskey. “The event’s post-race celebrations will have a new twist this year, as food, beverages provided by Michelob Ultra, and awards will all take place inside the Saratoga City Center.”

The online entry fee is $30 through June 15 at midnight. (Those who register by June 15 will have their name imprinted on their racing bib.) The Firecracker4 gets underway at 9 a.m. The USATF-certified course, which starts and finishes at the Saratoga Springs City Center, takes runners south on Broadway to Circular Street, east through the historic residential district and finishes behind the City Center.

The Firecracker Sparkler Kids’ Run, a half-mile fun run down Broadway for more than 500 kids of all ages and abilities presented by the Saratoga Children’s Museum, will follow the main event at 10:30 a.m. All participants will receive a commemorative finisher’s medal and refreshments, and parents are invited to run with their children. The entry fee is $5, and you can register online through July 1 at midnight at firecracker4.com. Participants can also sign up at registration/packet pick at the Saratoga City Center on Wednesday, July 3 from 3-7 p.m. and race day morning in the Saratoga City Center from 7-8:45 a.m.

Runners are encouraged to form male/female/co-ed teams, including open, USATF clubs, military, public safety, scholastic and Run Your Colors. The Run Your Colors team with the most registered runners will win a $1,000 first place team award donated to the not-for-profit of its choice. Second and third place teams will receive $500 and $250 respectively to donate to a charity of their choosing. Organizers will also hand out awards in standard five-year increments, as well as a special award category for military and public safety (police/fire/EMS) competitors.

Following the two road races, participants and spectators are invited to wander through the event’s vendor village featuring an array of food, apparel and running/fitness/health vendors.
They can also listen to Funk Evolution, one of the Capital Region’s hottest horn-fueled funk/R&B bands, perform on the main stage located at the City Center from 8:45-11 a.m.

Participants and spectators are invited to stay in town to enjoy the city’s festive All-American Celebration featuring family photo opportunities with patriotic characters, an All-American BBQ & Dessert Festival, a classic car show, and a 7 p.m. concert in the Springs Street parking lot featuring The Audiostars. Around 9:30 p.m., enjoy a live reading of the Declaration of Independence followed by fireworks with patriotic music.
